The airport
(Lidosta in Latvian) is about 13km from city. Bus 22 links the
airport with Central station roughly twice an hour. Bus 22A Express runs to
the city centre at the Russian Orthodox Cathedral less frequently. (bus timetables). Fare is 0.20 or
0.25, pay on board but you do need small change! Taxis are cheap
and reliable. If your destination is
inside the largely pedestrianised ‘old city’ the taxi will usually drop you
at an entrance barrier and you have to walk. Fare to the city is about 6 to 8
Lats. Trains to all
destinations depart from the Central railway station. Train times at LDZ (select ‘Electric trains’
